Red Tide
Red Tide is the discoloration of seawater caused by a bloom of toxic red dinoflagellates. It is linked to warming ocean temperatures and heightened levels of acidity. This symptom of the climate crisis puts native species at risk, as well as the people who survive off of the ocean. In this maze like installation people moved through the material which was still wet with oil paint. Viewers were confronted by the wind produced by their bodies shifting through space, putting them at risk of being marked with the toxic matter. As the viewers approached the back wall there was a literal climate produced by a tangled mass of clamp lights which illuminated the space.
